Plan clear conversations

Build a room audio system that lets local and remote participants hear one another clearly. Compare speakerphones, microphones, speakers, digital signal processing, interfaces and accessories. Start with every speaking position and the complete audio path, then choose components that provide dependable coverage and work together.

Map every speaking position

Start with the room dimensions, seating layout, table shape and every place where someone may speak. Published pickup coverage is a planning guide, not a guarantee.

Plan speaker coverage

Remote voices should be easy to hear without excessive volume near the display. Match speaker placement and output to the room rather than relying on a product label alone.

Consider the room acoustics

Glass, concrete and other reflective surfaces can reduce speech clarity. Processing helps manage the signal but cannot fully correct poor placement or a highly reverberant room.

Coordinate echo cancellation and DSP

Acoustic echo cancellation prevents speaker audio from returning to remote participants. DSP can also mix microphones, route signals and manage levels.

Verify connection and expansion

Confirm how microphones, speakers, DSP, amplifiers, interfaces, room compute and controllers connect, including channel capacity, cable distance and power.

Keep operation simple

The audio system should follow the room workflow without requiring users to manage a separate signal path. Test normal meetings, content sharing and recovery after a call.
